Are you ready to put the winter blues behind you? Pull out your RV and head to historic Dublin, Ohio for a St. Patrick’s Day to remember. Rated one of the Top-10 St. Paddy’s Day Parades in the United States by Reader’s Digest, this weekend getaway is just what Old Man Winter ordered!
Dublin’s St. Patrick’s day festivities last all day long and are geared for all ages. Kicking the day off is a Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the Dublin Lion’s Club. The parade starts at 11 AM and lasts all of two hours, as it winds down the roads of West Bridge Street and beyond. The fun-filled procession hosts marching bands, bagpipers, balloons, Irish dancers, and even St. Patrick himself. Afterward, enjoy the famed town of Dublin and all it offers, as the stores, shops, restaurants, and pubs all stay open late to accommodate visitors.
A favorite for the adults is the St. Patrick’s Day Tent Event at Fado Pub and Kitchen located on Riverside Drive. For a small cover charge, enjoy live music, spirits, and good old wearing of the green all day long. If you are fond of shopping local stores, the annual Irish Fairy Door Trail launches every year after the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin. Visit 11 local shops on this walking tour through the town, where you literally find a resident fairy at each location to claim a free gift at the end of the tour.
Enjoy RV camping during this near-spring weekend at Cross Creek Camping Resort or Alum Creek State Park in nearby Delaware, Ohio. Open year-round, Cross Creek offers private resort camping with numerous amenities including a fully-stocked camp store, book exchange, and a community fire ring for gathering with fellow campers to enjoy a cozy evening of storytelling. If you are more adventurous, Alum Creek is one of Ohio’s popular state campgrounds and offers a large array of hiking options, including a Storybook Trail if you are bringing the family along.
So, if you are done with Old Man Winter holding you hostage, get out your green threads, pull the RV out of storage, and make this St. Patrick’s Day Weekend trek to Dublin, Ohio and make some new memories!
